 Artist Statement: 

Through this project I wanted to create a surreal image that takes the viewer out of this reality. The color of the fabric that I used to wrap the figure balances with it's surroundings as if it was meant to be there. I chose to use the beach as my space because I feel as though it is a surreal place in itself. I wanted the figure's hair to show because of the unreal looking textures of the dreadlocks. The figure is meant to look mystical and mermaid-like.
