Artist Statement:

Music has always been a major part of my life. I started writing songs when I was just a child, but in 2016 at the age of 23 was when I wrote and recorded my first full song. I use songwriting as a coping mechanism to deal with the heartbreaks and/or good love that life brings me. Every time I song write I pull inspiration from what is happening in my life in the current moment. When thinking about kissing, I was thinking about a relationship in which we haven't kissed, but I thought about the what ifs of if we did and what the outcome of that could be.

Artist Statement:

Being in nature always brings me peace. The feeling of a rocks vibration in my hand or on my forehead always heightens my sense of awareness. Plants always bring me joy, and bring great energy to a space. I enjoy creating altar spaces in my living areas because to me it brings balance and good vibes to an area. With the right intentions as I create these altar spaces I can put good thought into the universe that will hopefully come back to me. I fully believe in the power of positive thinking, and with my altars I try to think positively with every placement of each item. I've been collecting plants and rocks ever since childhood and my collection is getting bigger and bigger. I currently work at a crystal shop in downtown St. Augustine, FL, so it is easy for me to bring crystals home with me.

Nature Sculptures

  Artist Statement: My inspiration in my pieces came from many different elements. I looked at a variety of images including feathers, aquatic creatures and cacti. Only being limited to a few select materials (tape, ink, paper, string and wire), posed a challenge. I really enjoyed working with the tape and ink the best. The tape can mold to create almost any shape, so I had fun playing with that advantage. Overall this project pushed my creative boundaries and I really enjoyed it.

Wrapped Human Body Final

Wrapped Human Body  Artist Statement:  Through this project I wanted to create a surreal image that takes the viewer out of this reality. The color of the fabric that I used to wrap the figure balances with it's surroundings as if it was meant to be there. I chose to use the beach as my space because I feel as though it is a surreal place in itself. I wanted the figure's hair to show because of the unreal looking textures of the dreadlocks. The figure is meant to look mystical and mermaid-like.

  Silver Linings Inspired by: Silver Linings Playbook Artist Statement:  The main focus of this piece is the duality of two people overcoming struggles. Life is not always pretty, and can definitely have it's ups and downs, but I do believe that everybody has the power to better themselves. Sometimes, there are people who come into your life that help along this expedition. When two like minded people come together in a positive light, especially after going through something that may have negatively impacted their life, this can be very empowering. Everyone recovers in different way and it can almost seem like a maze to some (like represented on the plates). Or in other cases it is like a game (which the playing cards might represent). But, when people recover together, this can be even more uplifting and fulfilling.
