Artist Statement:

My inspiration in my pieces came from many different elements. I looked at a variety of images including feathers, aquatic creatures and cacti. Only being limited to a few select materials (tape, ink, paper, string and wire), posed a challenge. I really enjoyed working with the tape and ink the best. The tape can mold to create almost any shape, so I had fun playing with that advantage. Overall this project pushed my creative boundaries and I really enjoyed it.

Wrapped Human Body  Artist Statement:  Through this project I wanted to create a surreal image that takes the viewer out of this reality. The color of the fabric that I used to wrap the figure balances with it's surroundings as if it was meant to be there. I chose to use the beach as my space because I feel as though it is a surreal place in itself. I wanted the figure's hair to show because of the unreal looking textures of the dreadlocks. The figure is meant to look mystical and mermaid-like.
